What do you value?

Here is a really simple exercise for an area of your career that you're struggling with at the moment. Think of what the challenge is and then ask yourself:

What am I choosing to value over something else?

There are usually always two or more paths. For example, if it's an interpersonal dispute, do you value 'being right' over 'developing the relationship' or if you're wrong, do you value 'protecting your ego' over 'admitting you're at fault and repairing the relationship'? Ask yourself then:

What should I value?

And finally ask yourself:

What will I value?

This last question is obviously key. Most of us would agree that we often know what we should do, so then the question becomes ‘what will you do’?
