Tech Startups, VC Funding and Y Combinator

“As a product manager, you have to be an expert on your users, their problems. You need to be an expert on the business, what matters to the business. And you need to figure out a way to solve their problems in a way that also achieves your business objectives—finding the middle ground of what the business cares about, what the users care about, and aligning a product vision that helps you to sort of check both boxes.”

Tim Jones is a product manager with a passion for startups, SaaS businesses and solving problems.

During the interview, we spoke about Tim’s progression from roles at Boeing and Microsoft to embarking on his own journey as a tech entrepreneur and participating in the Y Combinator Program.

He’s had multiple jobs and startups, but still hasn’t lost the love and bug for entrepreneurship.

He’s currently involved in the acquisition and optimisation of SaaS business, where he assesses products for the “stickiness”, market value and growth potential.
