Outline positive expectations: 'looking forward to…’ is a good way to get everyone on the same page about a positive future experience
Empathise with their situation: 'it must be tough trying to…'
Relate: 'it’s similar for me - I’m also trying to...'
Show more interest: 'how are your friends/family getting on?'
